Never camped, have been here during the week for boating for the day. When the lake is full there is plenty of open space where you don't feel like you are on top of other boats like you do in other area reservoirs. Water is clean, kind of cool. Ramp works great. There are tables where you can set up for the day but have never camped near the water. Don't know if there is sandy areas where you could set up on a beach. Appears there is north of the main boat ramp. Will keep coming back! I don't doubt this place gets crazy on weekends.
Lake is nice and all but management was not great. They charged for every little thing. Suprised they didn't charge for the air I was breathing. The gate man was a red neck hill billy racist that got drunk on the job and abuses his position. Tried throwing people in my group out because of his little man syndrome. They also charged me 10 bucks just to pick up my tent when leaving. They regulars looked at us like we just jumped the boarder.
Despite the cost to come it's so much better than pineview. When you're in the water you can see your toes and what's around you. The water is clean and there's plenty of space for people to lay out blankets. Plus there are shade trees and picnic tables. Definitely worth the $10 day pass.
We planned a weekend trip with a fairly large group of friends. The friend who initiated the trip had never been, and we hadn't either. We didn't know exactly what to expect. If we had, we never would have gone. The place was HORRIBLY crowded. There were fewer than 23 steps (in my size 7 shoes) from one side of the trailer slot to the other, and no room at all for the truck used to tow it. The power box destroyed my friend's cords. We couldn't put our tent up because there was ZERO room, plus we would have been charged an outrageous fee. AFTER the $55 our friend already paid for the trailer space! There's another fee to boat. Another if we wanted to park at the top and walk in to join our friend at his paid space. There were restrooms with showers. They were technically clean I guess. But they definitely aren't using the exorbitant fees for maintenance. There's a shower. But of course it's an additional cost. There's not much shade unless you're lucky enough to get a prime spot, which I'm sure costs more. It wasn't quiet, there was no privacy (WAY too crowded), and nothing extra. Hell, there was no power. On an "electricity included" PAID SPOT. If you plan ONLY to sleep and be on or in the water, go for it. But don't expect fancy one star amenities.
Still a good place to enjoy boating, but the resort has become more of a trailer park, with a lot of partying, drinking, and late night music. Not very family friendly.
